A Paper Heart

Between the creases, soft and white, lie whispers tucked away from light
A lover’s plea, a child’s dream, each word too frail for daylight’s gleam
The paper knows what lips withhold, in valleys pressed, in corners rolled
A touch unfolds what time can’t see, and in the light the secret’s free

Paper folded in a velvet string, all its secrets contained within
You’re the words everyone heard, but the whisper in the dark returned
Diamonds shine as the light divides, and everything went flying by
A fire burns in the breeze, and through the darkness its light is seen

A space rock falls into the sea, it doesn’t understand gravity
It doesn’t think or have a name, just charred reminders on its remains
The paper has some words of thought, but doesn’t understand it at all
The wind, it catches fallen leaves; it makes a sound but doesn’t speak

Paper folded in a velvet string, all its secrets contained within
You’re the words everyone heard, but the whisper in the dark returned
Diamonds shine as the light divides, and everything went flying by
A fire burns in the breeze, and through the darkness a storm at sea

Somewhere in time and space we’ll meet
Between the lavender and the fallen trees
Our worlds drift apart in gravity’s game
Forever divided, forever decay

When the morning comes, it starts anew
A paper heart folded in two
And when it meets, the words escape
And a new world begins to take shape
